The five colourful and picturesque fishing villages definitely worth a visit and are considered to be among the most interesting destinations.
The Cinque Terre is a very famous destination mainly for a short day trip especially from Firenze and La Spezia. Exploring Cinque Terre
Things to do in Cinque Terre
Where to stay?
1. Stroll around in the colourful fishing villages!
The probably most convenient way to reach Cinque Terre is by train from La Spezia, especially if you want to avoid parking fees and driving in narrow roads. The train first stops at the picturesque Riomaggiore and then you can move from one village to the other either by train, boat or on foot.
When arriving in Riomaggiore you start getting the atmosphere of Cinque Terre. Colourful houses, small hotels, narrow cobblestone streets, cute shops, stunning views.
Next train stops: Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. Corniglia is the only village that is situated up to the hill, whereas all the others are by the sea.
The picturesque ambience stays the same until you reach Monterosso. Monterosso al mare is split between the old and the new village. The old part of the village resembles the previous Cinque Terre villages. However in the new part of the village there are more recent and bigger buildings and hotels. There is a promenade by the sea with shops and restaurants.

2. Go hiking!
One of the top things to do in Cinque Terre, it’s go hiking; an interesting and pleasant way to explore Cinque Terre is on foot following a footpath.
The part of the path from Riomaggiore to Manarola is closed for works perhaps until 2023. However you can hike from Manarola to Corniglia in about 1h or from Vernazza to Monterosso in about 2h30m.
Even if you don’t decide to go hiking, get into the path from Vernazza to Monterosso and walk for about 10 minutes to get the best view of Vernazza!

4. Visit the wineries!
Furthermore, among the top things to see in Cinque Terre arrange for a visit in the wineries. In the hills around the Cinque Terre, local farmers cultivate vineyards. If you have time you can arrange a visit to a winery and try local wine.
5. Go for a swim!
In addition, going for a swim is another option among the things to do in Cinque Terre. Monterosso has a long sandy beach that is probably the largest and the most easily accessible among the other beaches in Cinque Terre. As soon as you get out of the train station in Monterosso, the beach is in front of you.
