Denmark!
The most interesting things to do in Copenhagen!
Do you plan to visit Copenhagen? You are wondering about which places to visit, what to do in Copenhagen and where to go in Copenhagen?
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and is mainly famous for its picturesque canals and castles, for being the home town of Hans C Andersen and for the Tivoli amusement park.
People cycle a lot and are considered to be among the happiest people in the world!
Copenhagen certainly worths either a short or a long visit, as there are many places to visit in the capital of Denmark. In addition the trains offer you the opportunity to visit many places and even Sweden!
My suggestion is to book your stay in the city centre, as it is the most convenient way to go sightseeing.
I scheduled a 5-day stay in Copenhagen and here is my list of the most interesting things to see and do, about places to visit in Copenhagen!
Exploring Copenhagen
What to see, what not to miss
1. Visit Indre By and Nyhavn!
Indre By is the center of the city, where you can find shops and restaurants. From Indre By you can quickly walk or cycle to the main sightseeings. The place I decided to visit first was Nyhavn.
Nyhavn is probably the most iconic place in Copenhagen, with colourful buildings next to the canal and is usually crowded. The place is full of restaurants and bars and is only 10m walk from the center of Copenhagen and is ideal to visit during the day and after sunset, when is beautifully lighted.

2. What to do in Copenhagen? Go sightseeing!
Here is the list of the most important sights around the city center!
The most interesting places to visit in Copenhagen are within walking distance from Indre By and form a circle around the city center.
You can possibly start from Christianbourg Palace, head on to Borsen, to the Church of our Saviour and to Nyhavn. After that, head on to Amelienborg Castle, the official residence of the Danish royal family, and the Little Mermaid, the statue that attracts most of the tourists. Don’t miss the chance to walk in the Kastellet, the park next to the Little Mermaid statue.
Of course, you should not miss the chance to visit Rosenburg Castle and the Round Tower where you can have nice views of the city.

3. Visit Dragor!
Furthermore, among the most interesting places to visit in Copenhagen is Dragor. The nice picturesque fishing village is about 12klm outside Copenhagen and is accessible by bus/ car. There you can find nice shops and restaurants or go for a walk at the port.
4. Where to go in Copenhagen? Visit Hillerod by train!
Hillerod is a small town only about 45minutes by train from the center of Copenhagen, thus making it ideal for a day trip from Copenhagen. When you arrive at the train station of Hillerod, follow the signs to the castle and tourist information centre. After 15-20 minutes walk from the Hillerod train station you will see the Frederiksborg Castle surrounded by baroque gardens and a lake. You can enter the castle, walk around the lake or the gardens, go for shopping in the interesting shops in the town, or have a lunch or coffee at the restaurants and cafes. The whole atmosphere is very much relaxing and the views are magnificent.

5. Visit Sweden by train!
One of the most interesting things to do in Copenhagen is to visit Sweden. What I really enjoy in my trips is to combine visits in different countries by train and certainly I couldn’t miss the chance to visit the “shoes” of Sweden, Malmo and Lund.
Malmo and Lund are only six and seven stops by train respectively, from Copenhagen city center and it takes less than an hour to reach both.
Lund is a small walkable city where you can go around the old town, walk in the cobblestoned streets, visit the Cathedral or just go shopping in the cute shops.
Malmo is a coastal city where you can explore the city center or walk in the parks.

6. More things to do in Copenhagen? Spend an evening at Tivoli
Another interesting place to visit in Copenhagen is Tivoli. Tivoli amusement park is among the oldest in the world and certainly worths a visit if you are in Copenhagen. It’s easily accessible as it ‘s situated in the centre of the city. Make sure you book early in advance!
The magnificent gardens and amusement rides along with the cute shops, cafes and restaurants will certainly leave you with great memories.
During Christmas, the christmas atmosphere overwhelms the place with local food and christmas ornaments.

tips
In order to save time and in case you don’t have enough money converted at the local currency, try to book train and bus tickets online. For bus tickets check DOT application.
